Become A Vet

Legal

Privacy policy

How we collect, use and protect your personal data, and the rights you have over it.

Effective 15 June 2026. This policy explains how Become A Vet handles personal data in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

Become A Vet is a trading name of RGEM Corporation Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number and registered office available on request). RGEM Corporation Ltd is the data controller responsible for your personal data. The service is founded and delivered by Dr Rebecca Massie, a qualified veterinary surgeon.

You can reach us about this policy or your data at info@becomeavet.co.uk or +44 (0)203 488 5468.

The personal data we collect

We collect only what we need to help you, including:

  • Enquiry and contact details such as your name, whether you are a parent or student, email address, phone number and the contents of your message, when you use our contact form, book a call or email us.
  • Booking details when you schedule a free consultation through our booking provider.
  • Application information that you choose to share so we can advise you, such as your predicted or achieved grades, work experience and the schools you are considering.
  • Payment details when you buy a programme or service. Card payments are handled by our payment provider; we do not see or store your full card number.
  • Technical data such as your IP address, device and browser, and basic usage information collected through cookies when you visit the site.

Where a student is under 18, we expect a parent or guardian to be involved, and we treat their information with particular care.

How and why we use your data

We use your personal data on the following lawful bases under the UK GDPR:

  • To perform our contract with you (or take steps before entering one): responding to enquiries, arranging consultations, and delivering the guidance and services you have asked for.
  • For our legitimate interests: running and improving the service, keeping records, and protecting against fraud and misuse, balanced against your rights.
  • With your consent: sending you our free guide or other optional updates, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To meet legal obligations: for example keeping financial records for tax purposes.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, including:

  • Our scheduling provider, Calendly, when you book a call.
  • Our payment provider, Stripe, when you make a card payment.
  • Our hosting, email and IT providers, who keep the site and our communications running.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

International transfers

Some of our providers are based outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred abroad, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement, so your data stays protected.

How long we keep it

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it. As a guide, we keep enquiry data for up to 24 months after our last contact, client records for the duration of our work together and a reasonable period afterwards, and financial records for at least six years to meet tax law. We then delete or anonymise it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its use, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email us at info@becomeavet.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we would welcome the chance to put things right first.

Cookies

The site uses essential cookies that make it work, and may use analytics cookies to understand how it is used so we can improve it. Some features, such as our booking and payment providers, set their own cookies when you use them. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above, and significant changes will be made clear on this page.
