About UCLan Vet School
The University of Lancashire (formerly the University of Central Lancashire, UCLan), based in Preston, runs a five-year Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMS) through its School of Veterinary Medicine, described as the first of its kind in Lancashire and one of only two in the north of England. The degree is new and not yet RCVS accredited: the university and the RCVS are working together to meet the required standards, with a formal inspection for full approval expected in 2028 when the first cohort completes.
The BVMS is a five-year, full-time, placement-led programme delivered at the Preston campus, with clinical placements from year one and state-of-the-art facilities including Anatomage virtual dissection tables. There is no separate admissions test; applicants are selected through an eight-station Multiple Mini Interview. A six-year route with an integrated foundation year is available for applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements.
