About Aberystwyth Vet School
Veterinary Science (BVSc) at Aberystwyth is a five-year degree jointly hosted by Aberystwyth University and the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), one of the world's leading veterinary schools. It pairs fundamental veterinary science taught in rural Wales with advanced clinical training at the RVC, and is especially suited to students drawn to careers in Wales or in rural mixed practice.
Years 1 to 2 are based at Aberystwyth University, covering the science underpinning veterinary medicine and basic animal handling, supported by the university's farms and the Lluest Equine Centre. Years 3 to 5 move to the RVC's Hawkshead Campus in Hertfordshire for advanced clinical study and small-group clinical rotations across species, including production-animal rotations back at Aberystwyth focused on issues relevant to Wales. Students also complete a research project and the standard animal-husbandry and clinical extra-mural studies (EMS).
