About Liverpool Vet School

The University of Liverpool's School of Veterinary Science was established in 1904, making it the oldest veterinary school within a UK university. It offers the five-year BVSc and is internationally accredited, with strong equine facilities and a Small Animal Teaching Hospital at its rural Leahurst campus on the Wirral.

The BVSc begins with foundational science and professional skills at the central Liverpool campus (years 1 to 3), before moving to the Leahurst clinical campus on the Wirral (years 4 to 5). Students complete clinical rotations split across production animal, equine and small-animal practice, plus extra-mural studies in commercial practice and a final-year elective. An optional intercalation year (including a study-abroad option) is available.
